First House in astrology, Houses!

First House in astrology

The first astrological house is an angular house. This is the native to the zodiac Ares and is ruled by Mars. The element associated with the first house is fire. The first house is the house of self and where we can find the ascendant. The ascendant in a natal chart is the sign that was rising on the horizon during the time of birth, and it directs a person’s life path.

Planets in the first house attribute to your personality, and your first impression of others. The sign rising creates the overall mask of who you are. The element of the rising sign is the element you present to the world first. For example, if you have an earth sign in the rising sign, then your go-to element is earth. Your personality would be defined as practical, down to earth, you are seen as a sensual person, material stability and luxury are essential for you. I’ll continue on with the elements in the rising… If the sign of your rising is a fire sign then you are more inclined with being self-centered (this is not all bad), vibrant, possibility temperamental, having a child-like wonder and air, personal freedom is one of your focus.

With a water sign as the rising, you’ll have a knack for understanding and manipulating other’s emotions, you can reflect what others feel back to them if need be. Security is prominent in your life, your mother and family will have a significant impact on your personality. For air signs as the rising your personality focus on mental aspects, relationships and communicating with others are essential. Being social is a must. These rising are logic centered and are more inclined to explore social boundaries.

As for the Personal Planets in the 1st house. It is like having a Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars conjunct with Mars. The Planets become lord of your chart and aspects you closely identify with.  Sun in the 1st house is for leaders though who will not allow anyone else put out there shine. They are conscious of what others see of them and their first impression. Sun here is like an Aries sun. My advice to allow them to be them. Getting in their way will be a mistake.

With the Moon here, your emotions are apparent, woman and your mother are important influencers for good or bad in your life. This is close to having an Aries moon or a Moon/Mars conjunction. Someone with the moon in the first house is likely to have a bit of a temper, combative, or someone who leads their life with emotions or a mother who is like that. You can reflect what others feel with this placement. The closer the moon is to the ascendant the more prevalent this is.

Mercury here leads you to be talkative and a smarty pants. Someone with this placement will have a quick mind and a sharp tongue with multiple interests and skills. Though because this is like having a Mercury/Mars conjunction it makes you ruthless when in an argument. I personally would not want trade words with this person.

Venus here makes some level of your personality diplomatic. You can be physically attractive in some way, or artistically inclined. This planet allows balance in the native life and nature. Favorable, because Venus is about money, situations flow into this Persons life. This is relatable to having Venus/Mar conjunction possibly making someone passive aggressive.

Mars in comfortable here. This is one of the best places for Mars. The planet makes you active here, giving you the energy to stand up for yourself. This makes you act bolder than any other planet, except for the Sun. Most people with Mars in the first require physical exertion like running, jogging, weight lifting, martial arts, etc. The closer Mars is to the ascendant the stronger its influence on the native’s personality.

You can break down the meaning of someones rising sign with all the elements, modalities, or gender polarities.

Houses in Astrology

There are 12 houses in astrology. The 12 houses correlate to the 12 signs. The 1st house is home for Ares, the 2nd house is home to Taurus, the 3rd house is home to Gemini so on and so forth. Astrological houses hold an is the environment the zodiac signs evolve in. As for planets, the houses are ruled or governed by planets, corresponding to the masculine and feminine aspect of planets. An easy way to tell if a house is masculine or feminine is if it is an even or odd house. Even numbers are seen as feminine, odd numbers are masculine. Another way is by the natural element associated with that house, fire and air are masculine, earth and water are feminine.

There are three types of houses angular houses relating to cardinal signs like Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Succedent houses relating to fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. Then, cadent houses relating to mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. Angular houses create the structure of the natal chart and start the flow of energy through the signs. Succedent houses preserve the energy created from the Agular houses and Cardinal signs. The need for preservation in the houses is one reason why fixed signs are stubborn and hard to change. Cadent houses keep the energy flowing ensuring nothing is stagnant. The requirement for energy to move and progress is why mutable signs need space freedom and the ability to move and transmute in accordance with there element.

The primary run through of the houses are as follows

House          Zodiac    Planet    Element   House type    Modality   Gender

Pluto!!

Pluto is a dwarf planet discovered in 1930. In modern astrology, it is the coldest and furthest away from the sun. Well, aside from Eris. Surprisingly, Pluto has five moons. It takes 248 years for one orbit around the sun lasting in one sign for about 21 years depending if the planet is going direct or in the various stages of retrograde. This planet sometimes crosses Neptune’s orbit leading to it be close to the sun than Neptune at times.

Pluto is the Roman god of the underworld. He was saved from the belly of Saturn by his brother Jupiter. Though, after being saved, he was given the crap end of the stick being sent to rule in the underworld. He has a helmet and a bident and is known as a wealth god given most material riches are from under or in the earth. Pluto co-rules sign Scorpio with Mars and governs the 8th house. It only has a feminine expression and is related to the element water and a fixed modality. Pluto is about the power and extremes of intimacy, betrayal, and mutual wealth.

The concept of death with Pluto relates to inner work. Yes, Pluto brings extreme measures when you are may face true death concerning those close to you. But, it is in efforts to transform yourself first then have the strength and power to transform the world around you. The lesson of death and transformation can be seen when betrayal comes, or opposition arise.

Pluto can be related to Mars if you turn the outward force of Mars inward. For me, I can’t feel the supposed radiating power using off Plutonians unless I look them in the eyes. Some people governed by Pluto learn how to control their emotions, but there is a strong sense of ownership and possession when Plutonians desire something or someone. Learning how to transmute the energy is better than trying to control the energy. Focus all that force on bettering yourself and environment. You will get what you desire to an extreme one way or another because of the stubborn intensity of emotions.

The antithesis of Pluto is Venus, more so the feminine expression of Venus. Venus is about harmony, stability, comfort, values, and beauty all personal. Not caring what others think but keeping with an authentic self. Pluto is about control and melding with another for transformation. The idea of power and transformation is not one of stability or comfort.

Metaphysically, do not play with this Planet. If you want to experiment with Pluto, watch out. I’m telling you this from personal trial and error. Don’t. But there are those who will. Please proceed with caution. Have protection mundane and spiritual. Heed the warning when they come. Be prepared for soul-wrenching transformation. This is a dark planet. Do not play with Pluto. If you want to study Hades, write the glyph on a candle an concentrate on it. Study darker deities and to begin to understand what you are dealing with. Develop will and determination to be able to get through anything.

Neptune

Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun right behind Uranus (tehehehe). Neptune has 5 rings with 14 moons. Because of the color, it is named after the Roman sea god Neptune. This gas giant takes 165 years to orbit the sun lasting in one sign for about 14 years depending if it is going direct, or if it is going through the various stages of retrograde.

Neptune rules the 12th house,  co-rules the sign Pisces with Jupiter even when Pisces is the sole expression of Neptune. With water as the element for this planet, with a  mutable modality. Even though the god Neptune is male the planet is feminine given that the sign, house, and element attributed to it are all feminine Neptune is about illusions, glamour, it is elusive and cunning. Keep that in mind when you are dealing with Pisces most of the time the victim card is a cunning ploy. Very few Neptunian/Pisces/12th house people are truly gullible. If they listen to their intuituion they realize any games someone else is trying to play with them. Often times the seasoned Neptunian is five steps ahead. Do not underestimate them.

Neptune is a planet that governs the contemporary in a sense it is a generational planet like the rest of the modern planets Uranus and Pluto included. It regulates over the collective subconscious, and it is a planet closely related to the other side of the vail and the dead. Yes, I know it is more recognized that Pluto rules the dead. Though from experience, personal and professional, Neptune dominate people or those with strong 12th house placement and Neptune aspects encounter more of the other side than not. The difference in encounters of death between the two planets is from perspective. Neptune accepts death and the dead as natural and every day whereas Plutonic death is a catalyst for transformation. With Pluto, it is felt more harshly than not forcing the softer side of someone to have a mini death within in order to continue on. An example of Neptune dealing with the dead someone with Neptune in the 4th house may grow up near or across from cemeteries and are more inclined to have a mother or family who can see the other side. Whereas a Plutonic 4th house person would have to go through power struggles, violence, and symbolic death to survive their ordeals. When death happens Plutonically it is soul crushing. Though, think of it as something to make you durable.

Neptune dominant people are imaginative, creative, most of the time they are a bit psychic. They are very artistic, also can easily pick up makeup and glamour better than any other planetary dominant. They need their time alone to recharge and space to. There may be a tendency to desire to get lost through spirituality or substance abuse.

The opposing planet for Neptune is Mercury. The Neptune Mercury dynamic is of vagueness and precision respectively. Though both planets are about understanding the ever-changing world around them Neptune does so by recognizing the subconscious and emotions that are by nature incomprehensible. While Mercury gains understanding in its environment deducing topics outside of emotions in practical ways. For the feminine expression of Mercury what makes sense before should make sense again. Neptune moto would be what is is or what will be will be. Then flip a situation to benefit the Neptunian.

If you want to work with this planet metaphysically or magically, I would advise studying the ocean, learning about ocean deities. Study the gods Poseidon, Neptune, and Yemaya, learn sailor lore. a good day for Neptune is Friday just as it is for Venus. Learn about all forms of art, music, art, theater, etc. Understand the subconscious and metaphysics. I hope you the best on your journey.

Uranus

Uranus is a pale blue planet with a ring going from pole to pole around it. It is the seventh planet in the solar system. Surprisingly enough Uranus is visible to the naked eye, and it moves in an unusual pattern, on its side with a 98-degree tilt. It takes about 84 years to orbit the sun lasting in one sign for seven to eight years depending if the motion of the planet is direct, or in the various stages of retrograde.

Uranus is part of the modern planetary system there is no traditional day as there were for the first seven planets. It co-rules the 11th house with Saturn it is the energy that radically pushes to maintain survival. Though the push is not a firey force, it is a detach logical necessary to move forward. Also, there is only one zodiac sign under its rulership that is Aquarius. The elemental energy attributed to this oddball is air modality is fixed and it, so far, has a masculine expression.  Uranus in astrology is about sudden changes, originality, experimentation, pushing the boundaries, and governing the mass conscious mind.

Where ever this planet is in a natal chart will tell where that person will push for something outside of the social norms, can more easily be detached, and where ingenuity can be expressed. Those with Uranus as the lord of their chart will, in part, push social norms, have a pronounced quirk about them, have the potential of brilliance and quick mental faculties. Whenever Uranus is transiting a house or a planet in the natal chart, things will start to shake up a bit sudden breaks can happen, or sudden change.

Metaphysically this is a planet I would suggest you study more if you want to work with it. The outer planets work on broader scales and can become more than we can handle at times. This is a very revolutionary planet if you want to work with Uranus hold tight and hope you come out okay enough to continue on.

Saturn

Saturn is a fantastic planet. It is the last planet visible to the naked eye before the solar system gives way to darkness. Saturn weighs the least of all the worlds in the solar system, with 62 known moons, and beautiful rings. It takes Saturn about 29 years for this planet it orbits the Sun completing the zodiac wheel lasting in a sign for 2 1/2 depending on the motion of this planet. Meaning if Saturn is in the process of going into or out of retrograde, is retrograde, or direct.

Saturn rules two sings Capricorn the feminine side, and Aquarius the masculine side. With the sign rulership of Saturn, you can see how this planet is about learning and working within your boundaries to attain what you want in this world ( Capricorn), and pushing your limits, experimenting with the environment around you to gain more in life( Aquarius ). Saturn has two modes attributed to it, cardinal and fixed. Meaning Saturn is about starting, or taking responsibility, and maintaining the fruits of your efforts. The elements that go well with Saturn are Earth and Air showing how it is about stability and, in a detached way, progression. The houses Saturn rules are the 10th, challenging of reputation, social status, career, and legacy.  The 11th house is of hopes and wishes, gains, networking, and society. This planet is exalted in Libra and debilitated in Aries.

With Saturn in astrology, you have to research to understand what it is doing in a natal chart. Most believe this planet is about Restriction, boundaries, limits and responsibilities and nothing more. But, Saturn also represents the highest place in the natal chart, karma as in the result of your efforts and reaping what you sow, time, control and material prosperity. Saturn rules the physical world and is known as Alpha and Omega. This planet also has more than one symbol. The well known Rx is another Saturnian symbol. Saturn lends its energy to retrograde planets. It is the reason why you are going over and over again with lessons concerning those planets and is the reason why retrograde planets are so tricky to understand.  After your Saturn return, an entire topic on its own, the experiences of your retrograde planets becomes easier.

Unlike other planets, Saturn as two planets opposing it- the Sun and Moon. The Sun and Moon are personal, insular, representing the Spirit and soul, the ego and emotions. Saturn is the antithesis of that. It is about the harsh outer world pushing the boundaries of the ego ( seen in the Leo/Aquarius dynamic), as well as controlling and guarding your emotions and soul (seen within the relationship between Cancer and Capricorn).

Metaphysically Saturn Rules over Saturday and its metal is lead. Saturnian gods deals with reaping what you sow and harvesting, karma, time, stability, effort, and wisdom. Saturning gods are Cronos, Saturn, and Shani.

Jupiter!!

Jupiter is a gas giant behind the asteroid belt. It is the fifth planet from the sun taking one year to orbit around our central star with 79 moons we know of!  This planet is the largest in the known solar system. Jupiter is in a sign for about one year depending on the motion of this planet. Meaning if Jupiter is in the process of going into or out of retrograde, is retrograde, or direct. In turn, taking 12 years to complete the zodiac wheel.

Jupiter is about abundance, good or bad. This planet amplifies its placement. Because of the abundant energy, many see Jupiter as a planet of Fortune. Jupiter rules two signs Sagittarius, the masculine expression, and Pisces the feminine element of Jupiter. The houses natal to the Gas Giant are the 9th and the 12th houses. Both are two sides of the same coin when you look into the details of them. The only expression of Jupiter is mutable just as it is for Mercury. The Elements attributed to Jupiter are Fire and Water giving this planet a sense of spirituality.

Jupiter is a planet of optimism and opportunity. It can abundantly give to the max may time you can relate the abundant nature to audacity when it comes to getting what it wants. There is a need for this planet to say in motion, being mutable, not waiting for fortune but creating beneficence. There are other significances of Jupiter in astrology. This planet is known as the husband because it is a benefactor. In a woman’s it is the Husband, and in a Man’s chart, it is how he is as a husband or a long-term relationship. To understand this in a personal chart look at the aspects, sign placement, and house Jupiter holds. To know what is going on with the husband look at the transits aspecting the natal Jupiter.

The opposite Planet to Jupiter is Mercury. Both are about gaining understanding and knowledge. Though, they do it in opposing ways. Jupiter looks for more metaphysical, spiritual and emotional, form of comprehension in constant search for true be it positive or not using what it knows to get what it wants. While Mercury does the same through, logical and practical ways. Mercury tries to bend the truth according to its will using cunning. Jupiter is of mutable energy from higher dimensions. Mercury taps into both upper and lower realms applying high knowledge to everyday life.

Jupiter is the King of Gods. Within pagan religions, the God who is at the top or high point tends to be very Jupitanian A few Gods to name would be Thor, Jupiter, Zeus, and Changó. Because of Jupiter’s place among the traditional planets, Thursday is its day. The metal for Jupiter is tin, and the finger of Jupiter is the index finger.
